When was your first encounter with music?

My first encounter with music was when I was very young and my father gave me his old vinyl collection. I grew up listening to old classic rock vinyls and from there my love for all types of music began to grow.

When/How did you start playing your instrument?

I decided to start playing an instrument as a way to keep closer to my friends who had all decided to join our middle school band at an early age. The band director asked me if I had ever heard of a bassoon, and when he gave me the chance to hold one and play on it I instantly fell in love.

When did you decide to make music your career?

I decided to make music my career when I first joined the Houston Youth Symphony. After performing so many amazing pieces and playing alongside numerous inspiring colleagues, I knew there was no other career choice for me.

What is your favorite memory of a performance?

My favorite memory of a performance would have to be when I performed in the Berlin Philharmonie Concert Hall while on an orchestral tour in Europe. The experience of performing for a sold out audience in such an incredible hall brought out so many emotions I had no idea existed. The power of that concert will stay with me for the rest of my life.

What do you like to do outside of music?

Outside of music I really enjoy cooking for friends and family, playing video games, and playing golf with my father.
